Inspiration: Knit in Samay - a soft blow yarn
Samay from Smuksak is a soft and airy blowing yarn, created for warm knitting projects with a light and full expression. The yarn consists of 70% baby alpaca, 7% merino wool and 20% polyamide and is produced in Peru, where the alpaca fibers have their natural origin.
It is an obvious yarn choice for you who want a chunky yarn that still feels light in the finished knit. Samay provides volume, warmth and softness without being compact or heavy.

What is blow yarn?
Samay er et blowgarn, hvilket betyder, at fibrene ligger luftigt omkring en tynd kerne. This gives the yarn a special lightness because the construction differs from classic spun yarn.
Precisely because of this, you get a yarn with plenty of body, but without the heaviness that can often accompany thicker yarn qualities. This makes Samay suitable for large knitting projects such as sweaters, cardigans and slipovers.
Softness from baby alpaca
The high proportion of baby alpaca makes Samay extra soft and comfortable against the skin. Baby alpaca is a fine and smooth fiber that feels warm without appearing heavy.
Together with the merino wool, the yarn gets a bit of structure, while the polyamide contributes to durability and stability. The combination makes Samay a good choice if you want a soft yarn for everyday knitting that should both feel nice and hold its shape.
Perfect for chunky knits
Samay is knitted on needles 5-6 mm and has a knitting strength of approx. 16-17 stitches per 10 cm. This makes the yarn suitable for many popular recipes for chunky knits, both for children and adults.
You can use Samay to:
- Sweaters
- Cardigans
- Slipovers
- Hats
- Scarves
- Throat disorders
The yarn can be knitted alone and does not need a trailing thread to get a full and voluminous look.
Light knit with warmth
Although Samay has a chunky look, it feels light in use. This is one of the great advantages of blow yarn: you get warmth and volume, but the finished project will still be comfortable to wear.
This makes Samay particularly suitable for autumn and winter knitting, where you want something warm, but not too heavy.
Samay from Smuksak
Samay is part of Smuksak's own yarn range. It has been developed with a focus on softness, usability and a good balance between natural fibers and durability.
The colors are selected to suit both classic basic projects and more personal knitting projects. Whether you want to knit a simple sweater, a warm cardigan or a soft scarf, with Samay you get a yarn that gives a light, full and comfortable result.
Samay as a yarn alternative for popular knitting recipes
We have knitted a selection of models in Samay, so you can see how the yarn turns out in finished knitting. Here you get a feel for the yarn's soft volume, light structure and the velvety look, which makes it particularly suitable for warm sweaters, cardigans and accessories.
